Under rigorous testing by Scion’s engineers, the manufactured prototype joints for New Zealand’s Timber Research Institute Innovation Hub, held their own through twisting, stretching & compressing.
The following video shows the development of the project through design, testing, manufacture and the on-site installation.
TimberLab was involved from the beginning of the design phase of this iconic structure under an ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) agreement with the client, Scion. This helped to ensure that the design suited both manufacture and onsite handling and also meant efficient production & installation. Stringent QA checks by TimberLab meant exact tolerances were achieved, helping to alleviate challenges of the site project team in erecting the structure which is expected to be ready for use by the middle of the year.
