SPLIT APPLE HOUSE

South Island, New Zealand

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

CREDITS: Tennent & Brown Architects

This award winning home was designed by Tennent & Brown Architects based in Wellington New Zealand.
It comprised a number of Glulam columns, rafters and beams. The interesting feature of this project is that the Glulam was both internal and external. The columns (the largest in the region of 1200×180-6500mm) formed both the internal and external wall. The glassing was then rebated/housed directly into these members. All Glulam was left exposed,  maximising the natural beauty of this product.
