TimberLab used their state of the art CNC technology to provide the critical accuracy necessary for the structural integrity of connections for this Classic Post and Beam project which featured on Grand Designs NZ recently. TimberLab has been involved with Box™ systems for many years, assisting in R & D and helping to provide solutions for design applications which make the “Box Classic” a successful method of construction
Box were quoted in the Grand Design Magazine;
“When a Hillsborough couple sub-divided their land after 26 years in residence, they asked design-and-build company Box™ to create them a home that would suspend them in the trees. Box™architect Tim Dorrington was happy to oblige. The owners had seen an early Box™ house on a TV show. They loved the mid-century aesthetic with no ostentation or weird angles. They also liked the earthy palette of materials. The company’s post-and-beam system of construction uses elements of prefabrication and a modular grid, where spaces are designed to standard increments of building materials.”
