PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Curved Ribs Forming Eight Domes (30 Ribs Per Dome). Whilst the Glulam members are not exceptionally large (the largest dome had a diameter of 5.7mtrs) the ribs had to be exceptionally accurate. As the ribs formed a 3 dimensional object that was being assembled 11,500km from where they were manufactured, each rib had to be exactly right. To ensure this accuracy, each type of dome was modelled 3D in CAD.
