When Auckland Zoo decided they needed a larger administration area, Ignite Architects was engaged to design the new space.

Ignite worked with TimberLab Solutions and BGT engineers to ensure the design was cost efficient to manufacture. TimberLab’s expert production team went to work on the Glulam & CNC-detailing. We fitted steel plates and self-drilling dowels; prefabricating all components before delivering to site for installation, where construction was completed by NZ Strong.

The open interior features Glulam portal frames to the gables and saw-tooth roof line as well as showing off other feature timbers throughout – CLT stairs, mezzanine floors and decorative plywood linings which make for a modern, warm working space.

The outcome of the completed project is an award-winning light, bright, attractive & economical solution.
