Project Description

CREDITS: Andrew Barrie / Takaharu Tezuka / Contract Construction

TimberLab is honored to have been associated with the unique engineered timber building system developed by Japanese architect, Takaharu Tezuka; overseen in NZ by Architect Andrew Barrie. The composite design is dependent on timber-to-timber rebated compression joints, achieved with a 1mm tolerance. Using our 5 axis CNC Bridge Processor we were able to produce the multiple components that make up the 12 metre long main portal frames along with detailed and profiled bracing, rafters and blocking. Prefabrication reduced site installation time and eliminated waste.
