Darren has been with Red Stag TimberLab since 2010; originally as Operations Manager for Timberbond Industries prior to the merger with McIntosh Timber Laminates. He has worked within the timber industry for over 35 years in a variety of roles; predominantly in production and operations management in Timber Engineering. Darren served The Company as General Manager for 6 years where he guided the day to day management. In May 2020 he was appointed Managing Director and is committed to ensuring Red Stag TimberLab manufactures high quality structural engineered timber products by utilising technology and innovative, quality systems to build a trusted and continuing partnership with our clients, suppliers and staff so they are confident and proud to be working with Red Stag TimberLab. He is also dedicated to ensuring that The Company remains at the forefront of engineered timber structures, by delivering second-to-none customer service and quality, through our programme of continuous improvement – Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
Andrew HewittGeneral Manager
When Andrew joined TimberLab in 2014, he brought significant industry experience in project management and quantity surveying as well as systems management. Having dealt with large construction projects for many years, Andrew is able to offer our customers a practical depth of knowledge and competence. His thorough analysis of projects and their needs along with careful attention to detail, helps to ensure smooth progress in satisfying customer expectations.
His role as GM is to ensure Red Stag TimberLab remains at the forefront of engineered timber structures, by delivering second-to-none customer service and quality, through our programme of continuous improvement.
Sam LeslieTechnical Sales Manager
TimberLab welcomed Sam to the team in April 2018. Extending the boundaries for engineered timber solutions is an ongoing passion for Red Stag TimberLab & Sam’s wealth of skills & experience will assist us on our journey to being New Zealand’s finest provider of engineered timber solutions.
Sam has spent the last 5 years helping to develop and educate the mass timber market in New Zealand. He was the Engineering and Innovation Manager at XLam NZ Ltd; Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) manufacturing plant in Australasia. He holds Bachelor of Engineering (1st class Hons) and Master of Engineering Management degrees from the University of Canterbury.
Sam’s passion is to see digital technology enhance engineered timber’s ability to expand horizons for the provision of detail designed, prefabricated construction packages.
Rommel de Jesus3D CAD/CAM Senior Draftsperson
Rommel joined The Company in 2011, bringing with him significant expertise in this specialist field of CAD/CAM drawing that greatly enhances our ability to provide our clients with solutions.
Rommel’s attention to detail is second to none. Concept design can also be brought to life with his ArchiCAD skills. With Red Stag TimberLab now leading the market in CNC fabrication, Rommel has embraced and excelled in this monumental change to the company and his role.
Laura Sos MartinezQuantity Surveyor / Estimator
Laura joined the office staff in 2017 as our new Quantity Surveyor / Estimator. Laura, as well as having experience within the New Zealand market, has international experience acquired in her native Spain. She’s competently assisting with the ever-growing demands due to our additional work.
Manu AbrahamProjects Manager
Manu joined the TimberLab team in March 2019 to assist in managing our projects; to ensure they flow smoothly from the quote stage, through CAD drafting into production & out at the delivery stage.
Manu’s background is in Engineering & Project Management. He possesses Bachelor of Engineering & Graduate Diploma in Project management and brings great attention to detail, with a calm & focused attitude
Juwairiyah AlamCAD Detailer
Juwairiyah, a qualified architecture graduate with a background in drafting, design, and architectural work, joined our team in 2021 to bolster our CAD Drawing department’s capabilities. Her expertise has enabled her to produce impeccable approval documents for our customers while also providing manufacturing information for our factory and CNC processing units. Juwairiyah’s addition to our team has been instrumental in enhancing our overall efficiency and delivering quality results to our valued clients.
Trevor YatesQuality Officer
Trevor has brought a wealth of experience with him from outside the manufacturing sector. With over 35 years in NZ Banking, principal focus on Corporate / Institutional Banking and time also spent in Credit Risk, Loan Agency, and Facility Management areas, enabling him to develop a depth of knowledge across the wider Corporate / Institutional banking business, from front-line relationship work, credit, credit risk systems and processes, and facility management; Trevor brings a fresh pair of eyes to his position at Red Stag TimberLab, and is now working with us to continually improve systems, procedures and robust quality management.
Andrew FrenchBusiness Development Manager
At the onset of 2022, Red Stag TimberLab was fortunate to welcome Andrew as Business Development Manager, who brought with him a rich trove of experience from the building and construction industry. Andrew’s background, having served as a carpenter in the past, and having accrued a robust sales experience since 2003, marks him as an invaluable asset to our organization.
In his current capacity, Andrew deftly manages relationships with stakeholders within the building industry, and provides our esteemed clients with bespoke solutions, drawing from his extensive understanding of their unique requirements. Andrew’s unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional value to our clients serves as a testament to his expertise and acumen in this field.
Eti SopoagaManufacturing Plant Manager
TimberLab welcomed Eti to the team in March 2019. Eti brought with him a wealth of knowledge in Production Management & excellent leadership skills.
His experience with Lean Manufacturing and robust management style will aid in his role in managing production & to maintain Red Stag TimberLab’s position as the leading Glulam manufacturer in Australasia.
Breanna PookCAD Technician
Breanna has a degree in Architectural Technology and a broad range of skills from the construction industry and is providing extra support to the CAD Drawing department.
She will be producing approval documents for customers and manufacturing information for our CNC processors.
Jose GeorgeCAD Technician
Working remotely from Levin, Jose brings loads of industry knowledge and skills.
His experience in working with mass timber projects and our specialist CAD software will provide an immediate boost to our CAD / CAM capacity.
Lindsay ChapmanFinance Officer
Lindsay, a highly tenured member of the TimberLab team, has been an integral part of the company’s administration for 21 years. He initially joined Timber Bond in May 2002, and following subsequence mergers, he continues his tenure with Red Stag TimberLab. Before joining our team, Lindsay served as a systems accountant in the rural sector.
In his current role, Lindsay is the central hub of the Red Stag TimberLab administration processes. Lindsay, when not crunching numbers is organising the despatch of orders for all our NZ-wide jobs, while also leading our payroll operations.
Tanmay GadkariProjects Manager
Tanmay joined Red Stag TimberLab in January year 2023 as a Projects Manager. His role encompasses ensuring that projects flow smoothly from the quote stage, through CAD drafting into production & out at the delivery stage.
Tanmay’s background is in Engineering, Project Management, and from the pharmaceutical machinery industry. Tanmay graduated in Electronics Engineering, and holds a Prince2 Practitioner Project Management Certification. Another valuable addition to the projects management team.
Febin ThomasProjects Manager
Febin joined Red Stag TimberLab in January year 2023 as a Projects Manager. His role encompasses ensuring that projects flow smoothly from the quote stage, through CAD drafting into production & out at the delivery stage.
Febin’s background is in the Product design, Manufacturing, and Engineering industries. He graduated with a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, with previous work experiences from a Mechanical consultancy. Another valuable addition to the projects management team.
Bruce WeiCAD Technician
Bruce brings to Red Stag TimberLab experiences from a different area of the engineering industry in 2022, with a degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, and a background in ship building engineering, to bolster our CAD Drawing department’s capabilities. His innovative and hands-on skillsets have appreciably supported the CAD team in drafting 3D models, providing manufacturing information for our factory and CNC processing units, and expanding our CAD team capacity.
YY KongMarketing Coordinator
YY graduated in 2022 with conjoint degrees majoring in Marketing, Management, and Māori Studies; while gaining work experience in the Events, Marketing, Music and Fashion Modelling industry. In 2017, YY won the Style International Top Model Title in Nan Ning China representing NZ. She is also a member of the internationally acclaimed Kapa Haka group, Kai Haka. This experience has added a sense of style and professionalism to her resume which she brings to her role in 2023, assisting in marketing for Red Stag TimberLab and their affiliates, utilizing skillsets accumulated from past experiences including marketing, content creation, photography, videography, and editing…etc.
