EVERIL ORR RETIREMENT VILLAGE

Project Description

CREDITS: Architect: Chow Hill / Engineer: BGT with specialist timber engineering by Kirk Roberts / Builder: Watts and Hughes

Grand exterior half portal frames support substantial canopies at the main entrance to this new, desirable retirement village.

TimberLab was involved in this project during the intricate design phase and worked with clients, QS and a specialist timber engineer, to finalise structural requirements and manufacturing methodology whilst ensuring the most cost-effective solution.

Each half portal was prefabricated in our factory and sent to site as a single component; manufactured with a glue lapped joint at the knee to make one item of the leg and rafter. This created an aesthetically pleasing form in addition to providing a highly resilient structure to hold up the canopy roof.

TimberLab arranged full 3D modelling and all detailing for connections was completed by our 5-axis CNC Bridge with all brackets and fixings supplied.

Supplementary prefabricated TimberLab Glulam elements were supplied for pergola structures around the complex to make a very appealing finish.
